BUILDING BLOCKS

Design a poster influenced by a time period or movement that best represents you and where you see yourself in the future as a designer.

As a designer, I typically focus on simplicity and structure, hence I decided to combine Bauhaus and De Stijl art movements for the purposes of this project . Both share similar ideals and aesthetics that circle around structure, limited color palette and simplifying shapes to their purist and abstracted forms. I illustrated all the tools we use as graphic designers, simplifying their shape and organizing to fit Pierre Mondrian’s grid structure. To add a personal touch I rotated the grid, to add some movement to it’s otherwise still and structured aesthetic, as well as slightly altering the typical red, blue and yellow colors to darker or lighter shades. The title Building Blocks was inspired by the idea of using these tools as "building blocks" for my future career as a designer.
